I was lucky to enough to try couple products from the Kellett skin care line, developed by dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett of DLK on Avenue. I’ve given two products a trial run of a few weeks which is long enough to ascertain whether or not I enjoy them cosmetically but I will continue to use them and document any long-term results/benefits in a future post.
First up Kellett SPF 30 Lotion. I typically wear physical sunscreens (those that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) because my skin can be reactive to chemical sunscreen formulas. This sunscreen came as a pleasant surprise. It didn’t irritate my skin, perhaps because of the particular formula and its ingredient ratios. Furthermore, virtually every sunscreen I’ve used (chemical or physical) leaves some degree of residue or heaviness, this sunscreen however disappears when applied. I’m not exaggerating! I’ve tried countless sunscreens that promise to not leave my face a grease slick and this one actually disappears. For a broad spectrum sunscreen that’s sweat and water-resistant that’s not too shabby at all. It’s perfect for those who can’t stand feeling like they have any kind of product on their face. Another plus, there’s no added nauseating fragrance.
I do wish that the SPF was higher because I’m quite fair and walk a lot outside. However, if you’re looking for an everyday, no-fuss sunscreen that won’t interfere with your makeup then this product is definitely worth a try. I’ve been wearing it on days when I can’t bear having a lot of product on my face or I’ll apply it under my zinc based sunscreen for an extra dose of protection.
Next up, Kellett Night Recovery cream. The first positive I noticed was the packaging. This cream comes in an opaque air-tight tube. I don’t like jar packaging and don’t understand why some companies still use them. Aside from being the more sanitary choice, opaque pump or tube packaging keeps the great potions inside fresh and clean and keep those key active ingredients, that we bought the product for in the first place, fresh. Again, little to no fragrance.
Second, I noticed the texture. Not too heavy, not too light, just right-the kind of texture that says “this is a quality product.” It’s packed with skin-loving ingredients like peptides and antioxidants which I like to see. It’s a great product if you layer things-you can apply this cream over a serum and not feel like you have a mask on. I haven’t finished my first tube so time will tell how my skin responds to it long-term. So far, so good!
