My latest setting powder buy is the Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. I never wear makeup without setting it so I always have an eye out for a great one. This powder is completely translucent and will match pretty much every skin tone. The finish is a soft matte so if you’re looking for a heavy matte finish you may want something heavier. If you want a natural, radiant finish then this stuff is worth a go.
Nars says their powder has;
“photochromic technology, which diffuses light and adjusts to new sources of light throughout the day [and] revolutionary microfine mineral powders loaded with glycerin and antioxidant vitamin E to help guard against dryness and keep skin comfortable all day”
I love that this powder doesn’t dry out my face but sets my makeup without making me looking cakey. I don’t notice a lot of “light reflecting” or how it “adjusts to new sources of light” but it doesn’t make me look sallow or washed out. It’s perfect for setting makeup without changing the colour of your makeup but a light soft-focus look. For more info check the Sephora site here
The packaging is the classic loose powder jar with a sifter. If you bring your powder on the go make sure to remove the lid carefully to avoid a mess. I like that the lid is completely separate because I have not had good luck with attached lift off lids like Sephora’s Smoothing Translucent Setting Powder, seen here .
Nars Light Reflecting Loose Powder can be used to set virtually any makeup base; it’s the perfect match for both sheer and heavy foundations. The price is definitely something to consider. At $46.00 Canadian I think it’s a tad much to pay for a powder. Still, I’m happy I tried it.
